Escape Your Island - "Completely Humble"

You can escape your island of isolation and build the kind of community you've been longing for.

Icebreaker Question: What is an embarrassing moment you remember from Middle School or Jr. High?

Where is it Written?
Read Romans 12:3-5, Philippians 2:1-12, James 4:6-10 and 1 Peter 5:5-6.
What do these passages teach us about humility? How is this different than what we might usually think about humility? How would you define humility in your own words?

Read Ephesians 4:1-7. What connections does this passage make between calling, community, humility, and unity?

How Goes Your Walk?
Do you find it hard to let others know about your needs and limitations? Why or why not?

Read each of the following phrases. Rate each on a scale of 1-5. (1= Easy for me to say 5= Hard for me to say.)
What comes more easily? What do you find harder? Why?
I need help. ______
I can’t/ won’t do that for you. _____
I am good at ___. ______
I’m sorry. _____
In what aspects of humility are you most wanting to grow?

Biblical Humility Means:
*Knowing I need God’s help AND thanking God for the grace and gifts He’s given me.
*Not exaggerating, hiding, denying or concealing God’s gifts in me.
*Saying sorry when I make mistakes AND acknowledging God’s good work through me.

*Because I am secure in who I am in Christ, I can build others up.
