21 Days in John - John 8, Day 8

Why did people want to kill Jesus?

Read 8:12-13
This is a really bold claim.  How would you have reacted if you had been there?

Why did Jesus claim the Pharisees, who were respected religious leaders, weren’t children of God?
What does it mean to belong to God?
Why do people get so upset with Jesus in John 8:58-59 (Hint: read Exodus 3:14)

John 9
What were the reactions to Jesus healing the blind man?
From the Neighbors (v8-11)
From the Pharisees (v13-17)

Read 9:35-41
Imagine someone asked you to tell him or her about Jesus.  What would you say? (Be specific)

John 10
In what ways is Jesus like a good Shepherd?
In 10:34-37 Jesus challenges people to test His claims.  How does He do it?

John 11
Read 11:1-37
What words or phrases stand out to you?
Put yourself in the place of the family—what might you be thinking?  Feeling?
Why does Jesus weep in v 35?
(Remember what he said in v11)

Read 38-57
What are the reactions to Lazarus being raised?
How do we respond to God’s faithfulness when we can’t always see the outcome?
Why was Jesus such a threat to the religious establishment?

As you read each day, write down words or themes that stand out or questions you may have.  One of the greatest things about the Church is that we get to do it together, and that includes reading the Bible together!
