- What was Jonah's message to Nineveh?
- What does the fact that there is 40 days warning imply?

- Read Genesis 19:24-25. What other notable places were “overthrown” by God when they did not repent?
Read Jonah 3:5.
- Who did the people believe? What did they do as a result? What did this action signify in their culture? (Read 2 Samuel 3:31 for additional background)
- What might a current-day parallel to this be?

- Who was the one who lead in repentance?
- What specific things were the people told to give up?
- What was the expressed hope that might happen as a result?
- What might like this look like in current-day, if the same thing was to happen?

- What does this tell us about God's character?
Looking at our Lives:
- Is biblical repentance, like we see in Jonah's time, a part of our time too? Why or why not?
- What is the most sincere version of repentance you have ever personally witnessed?
- When have you repented of something? What happened?
- Read 2 Chronicles 7:14. What things might we corporately need to repent of, as a city, state or nation? If we did repent, what might our expression of repentance look like?
